The advanced sports first aid course is designed for coaches and managers who are required to hold an advanced first aid qualification for their team. The course is SYFA recognised but is suitable for all sports activities. This course will ensure that you are equipped to deal with a wide range of situations that may arise in your activity.
The Advanced Sports First Aid course covers an extensive range of topics. The key areas covered include all the topics on the Emergency Sports First Aid course (see separate course descriptor) PLUS the following:
The course will be delivered by experienced Trainers with practical hands-on experience of delivering care in front-line emergency situations. Teaching methods vary to take account of differing learning styles and include group work, discussion, video and practical exercises.
The course is assessed via the Trainer carrying out practical assessments during the course and a multiple-choice paper at the end of the course.
On successful completion the delegate will receive an FAIB regulated Advanced Sports First Aid certificate recognised by the SYFA.
The certificate is valid for 3 years.
The Advanced Sports First Aid course has a required contact time of 12 hours. This can be delivered at weekends either on two Saturdays, two Sundays, or a whole weekend. The course can also be held over 4 evenings.
